On the road to success with Death and the Devil - Heimatfilm currently with two films in the Oscar race and in competition at Locarno

We have two reasons to be happy these days. As announced today by the Austrian Film and Music Industry Association of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ), Austria is sending the historical drama DES TEUFELS BAD by Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala, co-produced by Heimatfilm and starring Anja Plaschg, David Scheid and Maria Hofstätter, into the 2025 Oscar race in the "Best International Film" category.

In our award-winning co-production, Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala unfold a profound psychogram of a young peasant woman in 18th century Austria, played with great intensity by Anja Plaschg, who also composed the film music as Soap&Skin.

At the Berlinale 2024, our cinematographer Martin Gschlacht was awarded the "Silver Bear" for his outstanding artistic achievement and DES TEUFELS BAD won prizes in eight categories at this year's Austrian Film Awards. DES TEUFELS BAD will be released in German cinemas this fall, distributed by Plaion Pictures.

Also nominated for an award is Christoph Hochhäusler with his new film LA MORT VIENDRA ("Death will come"). The film celebrates its world premiere on August 8 in the official competition 'Concorso Internazionale' of the 77th Locarno Film Festival.

Sophie Verbeeck, Louis-Do de Lencquesaing, Marc Limpach and Hilde van Mieghem play the leading roles in this gangster drama in the tradition of 'film polar'. The film was made as a co-production with Amour Fou Luxembourg and Tarantula Belgium, in co-production with BR and ARTE.

LA MORT VIENDRA was produced with the support of Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, Die Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien, Filmförderungsanstalt, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Deutscher Filmförderfonds, Film Fund Luxembourg, Shelter Prod, Wallimage (La Wallonie). The Italian company True Colours is responsible for world sales.
