THE BLOOD COUNTESS - starts shooting

Principal photography of the vampire film THE BLOOD COUNTESS by Ulrike Ottinger has started in Vienna. In her new work, the renowned and multi-award-winning filmmaker deals with the legend of the so-called ‘Blood Countess’ Erzsébet Báthory. The dialogues were written with the collaboration of Nobel Prize winner Elfriede Jelinek. THE BLOOD COUNTESS is being produced by Alexander Dumreicher-Ivanceanu and Bady Minck with AMOUR FOU Vienna and AMOUR FOU Luxembourg, and Bettina Brokemper with Heimatfilm.

The leading roles are played by Isabelle Huppert as the Blood Countess and Birgit Minichmayr as her maid, who are both top-class actors. Further key roles are played by Thomas Schubert, Lars Eidinger, André Jung, Marco Lorenzini, Maresi Riegner, Karl Markovics, Inge Maux, Tom Neuwirth aka Conchita Wurst, Noah Saavedra, Valentin Postlmayr and Burghart Klaußner. Martin Gschlacht (The Devil's Bath, Ingeborg Bachmann – Journey into the Desert) was the director of photography, Christina Schaffer (The Girl with a Pearl Earring) was responsible for the set design, Jorge Jara (Freak Orlando, The Lead Age) designed the costumes, and Pia Dumont (Angelo) did the photo montage.
